Aliases are a built-in function in Microsoft Windows, and allows applications to define an easy-to-remember name for the application. This, in turn, allows the user to start the application by typing it's corresponding short name. Aliases where the file they are referring to could not be found are marked in red. Please excercise caution before removing aliases, and note that some aliases may not require an actual filename as the setting. Screenshots - Aliases tab The Aliases tab contains a list of all Aliases reigstered in Microsoft Windows.
Each line in the list represents one Alias. An Alias is a short nickname for an application or document, and can be used widely throughout Windows and WinMapper when running applications or opening documents. Use Aliases to avoid fully qualified paths for your favorite applications and documents. Double-click on an alias to change it, or click on the Modify button to change the highlighted alias. Click on the Add button to create a new alias, or click on the Remove button to delete an alias. |
