Definition: Application

We use the term 'application' frequently in the WinMapper documentation. This traditionally refers to a program. However, within WinMapper the reference is simple: anything that can be opened/run on the user's computer. This includes - but is not limited to :

Programs

Files

Folders

URLs

Shortcuts

Examples of an application are Microsoft WordPad, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, AOL Messenger, etc. They are all referred to as applications.

Within the Select window in Winmapper, any option provided is considered an 'application', as it can be started.
