Help - Main Window

This is the main window of SiteMapper. Enter a URL (or select Browse to open a local file) and click on the Go button to initiate scanning of HTML elements in the file or location.

Scan page (go)

Click on the Go! button (or press ALT+G) to load the selected page and scan the contents.

Internet favorites

Click on the Favorites button (or press ALT+A) to present an expandable list of all your Internet Favorites.

Scan website

Click on the Scan button to continue scanning the Internet pages from the selected website, and present an expandable list of all Pages, Links, Files, Folders, Scripts and Invalid elements found.

Viewing files

Click on the View button (or press ALT+V or Return) to view the selected entry in the expandable list. If this is an Internet page, the page is displayed in a new browser window.

If the entry is a downloadable file, the file is downloaded.

Following is a list of controls and their function:

Main window - URL field

The URL field is used to enter the Internet location (URL) you wish to scan.

Main window - Treeview

This list is an expandable outline containing all the elements found on the page(s). Click on the "+" sign to expand, and on the "-" to collapse entries in the list.

Main window - [Browse] button

Click on the Browse button to browse your local computer for an HTML file to load.

Main window - [Go] button

Click on the Go button to scan the page for HTML elements.

Main window - [Scan] button

Click on the Scan button to load the file or location, and add all elements to the list. Then continue loading all other pages found. To limit the number of pages scanned, review your options.

Main window - [Favorites] button

Click on the Favorites button to change the list to an expandable outline of all your Internet Favorites (Bookmarks).

Main window - [View] button

Click on the View button to view the file in a local editor.

Main window - [Validate] button

Click on the Validate button to start validating all the pages in the list.

Main window - [Refresh] button

During a scan, you can click on the Refresh button to force an update of the treeview.

Main window - [Exit] button

Click on the Exit button to cancel all requests and close the application.

Browse your local computer for a file to scan.

Main window - Save dialog

Select the type of file you would like to save the list as, then enter a filename and click on OK.

Treeview entries:

Links section

The Links entry in the expandable list can be expanded to display a list of all links used on the Internet page or website.

Pages section

Expand the Pages entry to see a list of all invididual pages referenced on the Internet page or website.

Emails section

Expand the Emails entry to see a list of all email adresses found on the Internet page or website.

Scripts section

Expand the Scripts entry to see a list of all JavaScript or VbScript functions used on the Internet page.

Files section

Expand the Files entry to see a list of all downloadable files found on the Internet page or website.

Folders section

Expand the Folders entry to see a list of all subfolders referenced by the Internet page or website.

Invalid section

Expand the Invalid entry to see a list of all invalid links found on the Internet page or website. This enables webmasters to quickly verify that a page or website does not include broken links.
