I worked for Link Data Security for 7 years, and learned what research and development really means.

Consultancy / contracting for other customers. One project included automated billing of gas and
electricity using specialized hardware and software back office support, and was performed on-site
with the existing development team.
Assisted in the development and maintenance of Link's sophisticated copy protection systems such as
CopyLock, WinCops, DialCops and CD-Cops. This involved a lot of research and development, and often
required the locating and fixing highly technical or hardware specific errors (due to the security
involved, these are "kernel mode" applications).
Project Management for development of Microsoft Windows products. Provided interim management
during vacations and business trips.
Design, editing and printing of quarterly newsletters. Initial development of Links website.
Also assisted in the design and development of applications for internal use (for statistical,
administrative, or automation purposes).
Created the software for Link's TIA hardware board. This software measures bit distances on a
floppy, and allows the user to browse or obtain statistics for any data (including system bits) on the disk.
Designed and developed a diskette verification program for Lotus Development (Ireland),
using Trace-Mountain loaders. This software validates all outgoing floppy diskettes from
Lotus, and is fully automated. Includes context sensitive help and disk-imaging features.
